The Emphatic Marker in Turkish: Two Readings

This paper aims to show that the anaphor kendi in Turkish has two distinct readings depending on when it’s functioning as an emphatic marker, which hasn’t been noted previous literature. I propose it based their surface sentential positions and diagnostics from Ahn (2010). Moreover, event modifying a variety of marker differs same type English by showing (i) allows theme/patient referents, DP (ii) may be able survive without obligatory stress. In addition, document further observations nuances regarding morphological marking varieties preliminary discussion points.
